About Shady Lake
Shady Lake began as a small, private summer community in the 1930's, with no heat or water in any of the homes. There were dirt roads and the only amenity was the lake. At the time, the residents formed an Association (Shady Lake Park Property Owners Association, or SLPPOA). They took out a community bond to have the pool built, and bought the 50 acres of land in the back of the development as recreational land, protecting it from other land developers. The association then bought the clubhouse (which was originally a general store).
The association is made up of a nine-member board, and 13 committees. They meet monthly from April through October on the third Wednesday of each month. Every member is invited to attend.
There is also an annual “general meeting” on the last Friday in July which all members may attend and participate in. Your participation and input are much needed in order to continue to keep Shady Lake such a wonderful community.
